FACT Today

The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy is now an established nonprofit organization with a central office and staff in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. The core of FACT is its active Board of Directors, comprised of an equal number of representatives from ISCT and ASBMT, the Presidents-elect of these two parent organizations, the FACT Medical Director, and the Chairperson of the Standards Committee, who represents ASBMT, ISCT, or both. Standing committees of the Board oversee the activities of the Foundation.

The FACT Board of Directors sets the agenda for the Foundation and approves all publications. The infrastructure of the organization includes a Chief Operating Officer in charge of the international office; managers of Information Technology, Quality Assurance, and Standards Development and Training; and an Accreditation Division, led by the Manager of Accreditation Services and comprised of experienced accreditation coordinators who are technologists and scientists expert in standards interpretation and in assisting applicant facilities and cord blood banks in preparation for accreditation and the on-site inspection.

Accreditation Success Story

The University of Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Program began at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City in 1990. The program has been FACT accredited for 10 years, and offers suggestions for large programs considering FACT accreditation. Read more
