Webinars

Webinars provide focused, interactive seminars that provide opportunities for advanced training and education for individuals and programs well-versed in general FACT requirements.

Inspectors and Applicants

Tutorials

The goals of the tutorials are to 1) reach more inspectors and programs by providing educational opportunities that require little time and financial resources, and 2) provide focused educational opportunities that inspectors and programs can access at the time the topic is applicable to them.

Quality Management Series

The Quality Management (QM) Series consists of discounted, bundled QM-related topics to encourage inspectors and applicants to participate in each QM session. Bundles are based upon modules, which are groups of related QM topics.

Online Tools and Resources

Several tools and resources are available to the inspectors, cellular therapy programs and cord blood banks on the FACT website. These tools and resources are particularly valuable to inspectors and programs that are in the process of preparing for an on-site inspection. They include information about the accreditation process, Standards, and inspection techniques.

Online Questions and Answers

In addition to the main email address (fact@unmc.edu), the contact information of FACT staff is posted on the website for inspectors and program personnel to direct questions to specific staff members. FACT responds to the questions in a timely manner, and the questions and their answers are incorporated into the overall training program through one of the more formal training elements (such as workshops).

Quarterly Newsletter

Tips are provided within the Just the FACTs newsletter regarding the accreditation process, inspections, and the Standards. The tips are selected based upon current issues or trends identified throughout the accreditation activities in the previous quarter.

Inspectors and Applicants

Inspector Tests

Inspectors are required to complete a test that covers the current edition of the Standards. Trainee inspectors must complete the test for the current edition of the Standards prior to their initial inspection, and current inspectors must complete the test for the current edition prior to conducting an inspection under that edition. These tests ensure that the inspectors understand the requirements of the inspection process and the intent of the Standards.

Inspectors

Trainee Inspections

The trainee inspector must attend an inspection and complete checklists, the pre-inspection meeting, the on-site inspection, and the exit interview, and then prepare a mock report. Subsequent to the trainee inspection, the trainee inspector must obtain satisfactory evaluation by the applicant, the training inspector, and the inspection team.

Inspectors

Inspector Handbook

Inspectors are provided a handbook to use as a reference during inspections. The handbook covers topics such as planning for on-site inspections, inspector etiquette, inspection tips, and post-inspection activities. The handbook is a pocket-sized booklet that inspectors can carry with them during inspections to keep FACT tips and suggestions close at hand for immediate needs. The handbook is currently under revision, and the updated version will be available on the website in the future.
